Imports to Shaper

Is there a shortcut to cleaning up fonts imported to the Shaper? I create my text in CorelDRAW using the export as *.AI . Next I bring it into the Shaper. Then begins the somtimes teadious method of moving polygons to find the duplicates to delete. It's hit or miss depending on the complexity of the font. This is new to me so maybe it's just becomes intuitive the more I do it (?). TIA! Bill P.S. I have found that o, e, d, and b are prime suspects…

Have you tried welding the vertices after import? This is covered under "Using .dxf and .flm Files/In the 2D Shaper" on page 3-36. – Jack

Jack , < Have you tried welding vertices> Presto! I overlooked that part of the book. I read 5-22 ( If there are overlapping polygons move them apart with Modify/Polygon/Move.) I still need to move a few of them out of the way to see if a duplicate lies underneath but welding them first is a good shortcut Thanks! Bill

Glad to be of help. – J

Try increasing your weld-threshold, selecting all of the polygons and using Modify/Vertex/Weld. That should help get rid of redundent segments (but look out, it could alter the fonts' curvatures). – Phil

Phil < Try increasing weld threshhold…> Select ALL then Weld works good. What do you mean by Weld threashhold? Is this an adjustable value? TIA! Bill

Your Weld threshold is accessed from the Info pulldown udner System Options. Basically, the threshold is a unit value representing how close vertices must be to one another to be considered coincidental and thus eligilbe for welding. – Phil
