With an eye towards a home automation project, I bought one of the fire sale
8088 bridgeboard setups w/floppy disks. Don't need speed in my project!
However, the vendor (Creative Computers) sent me a FRENCH Language version of
the manuals. No parla vous France'. So, I decoded much from the manual. The
board runs in my A2000 w/68030, but I can't get it to autoboot from the hard
disk on the amiga side. I ran the program to create an amiga file which the BB
would use as a C drive. But when the PC stuff boots, it reports can't find the
SYS:ABOOT.CTRL file. I've experimented, but stumped. — Can anyone loan me
English manuals for a few days? —- Also, all the software is in french –
including MS DOS. Ah fun!

The Sys:Aboot.ctrl file should contain the complete file name (with path)
of the virtual drive file pretending to be drive C:. Be sure to put a
<return> character after the name. Also, the Aboot.ctrl file should be in
the SYS:PC/SYSTEM/ drawer, not just SYS:

Thanks. I checked again. in SYS:PC/SYSTEM/ABOOT.CTRL (upper case) there is the
string "DH1:PC_C<cr><lf>". I stuck the <cr> in with a text editor. I
wonder… is it supposed to be <lf><cr>? Maybe I'll try a filename without an
underscore. == I double checked that DH1:PC_C does exist. — Check back later
this week. going on a business trip 'til Sat. steve.
I think all you need is the <cr>. I use mEMACS to edit these files, and
that's what it put's in there… I wouldn't worry about the underscore
either. "Virtual_C" always works for me. One thing you might experiment
with…. I notice your virtual drive is on DH1. I've seen some setups
where dh1 has to be mounted during the startup-sequence. If the "Run >nil:
sys:pc/pcdisk" command is executed before dh1: is mounted, it will fail.
If this is the case, you can move the commands around in your startup.

Sorry Steve, I have the 386 bridgeboard, and if I did have a XT BB, I would be
more than happy to copy the docs for you….
