HELP! I have an A1000 I'm attempting to upgrade. I recently added an In- sider II and a Kwikstart II. Everything seemed to work fine under OS 1.3 but when I tried to make the move to 2.04 I started having problems with a number of programs I didn't have trouble with under 1.3. For example, Prowrite hangs up when trying to load unless I turn Fastemem off alto- gether. Final Copy will only load about half the time and with both they hang pretty easily during use. According to the WB display, I still have lots of chip ram and fast ram left so I don't think I'm hitting the memory wall. DPaint and DigiPaint both load but hand up easily while Photon Paint seems to work fine. QB Tools won't load. Pagesetter II won't load from the HD. Any and all ideas toward solving the problem(s) is greatly appreciated.

Sean, Hopefully someone with much more experience with the Insider II will respond, but I vaguely remember some posts here in the past concerning problems with the way Insider memory works (or is recognized by the system). I am running a Rejuvenator board in an A1000 with Kwikstart and a nice little switch on the front cover of the machine that allows me to switch between 1.3 and 2.04. and have not had any of the problems you describe. Wish I could be of more help Gary on AutoPilot from Charlotte, NC

Gary, thanx for jumping in. I've not heard of any such problems with the Insider II or the way the system accesses it. I contacted DKB via E-mail recently and they never mentioned anything of that sort. I'm having trouble finding people who have a setup like mine. It seems all the A1000 owners bought the rejuvenator or didn't bother to upgrade. From the way it mine is acting, it almost seems like what you have described is happening. For some reason, the extra memory is not being accessed. BTW, where'd you get your rejuvenator ? Sean.

I do reviews for AmigaWorld, and reviewed it when it came out. Liked it so much, I bought it. Have you tried running "FastMemFirst"? Maybe that would help. I'm going to be over on Genie tonite, and I'll ask around there…gotta be somebody with an Insider II around. Gary on AutoPilot from Charlotte, NC

I'm familiar with what the rejuvenator does…there just don't seem to be any more out there. Also, 2.04 OS doesn't require FastMemFirst, I believe I read in the manual that it's written into the OS. If I'm wrong, let me know. If I had it, I'd run it. Thanks for any help you can find me over on Genie. Sean–Limping around on a crippled A1K…and still outrunning the DOSDUMMIES.
