I've got Animator Pro and the Magni Video Producer Pro (VGA-to-NTSC) card and want to use FLITAPE to output to a single-frame VTR (the one I can get from the rental place is a JVC 822). What sort of drivers do I need for FLITAPE & where can I get hold of them. Plus I understand that I will need some sort of an animation controller (+ software), can you recommend a model/ source ?

I don't believe the Magni works with FLITAPE. The Magni is expecting to take live video from anything on your screen, so that you can run the Player, or ANI itself, and capture the flic to a regular videotape recorder as it plays back on the screen. The solution you propose has many variations. Send me an email with your address and I'll send you something that describes the options.

Concerning Magni and FLITAPE in msg #76307 to Paul Vaala: >>I don't believe the Magni works with FLITAPE. The Magni is… I may have missed it if this was hashed out earlier, but just in case, FYI: the Magni seems to work OK with FLITAPE with the 7750 and DQ50p, as long as the sync and everything is set up correctly (mostly black magic to me). What I did was set RDPADI=..\RCPVESA.EXP, set VTPADI=..\VTRDIAQ.EXP, loaded a vesa driver, loaded the DQ stuff, then ran FLITAPE. Of course, as you and Jonas pointed out, the Magni and realtime VGA playback to a VCR is probably the best way to go, saving FLITAPE for the ATVISTA and VTR setup – much cheaper. <g> Given the choice, the only reasons I can think of for using the Magni/FlITAPE method are if one didn't have enough memory to load an entire (busy) flic for playback, or maybe if the flic wouldn't play at the correct aspect ratio thru the framebuffer. Of course, another reason might be if you woke up one day and found yourself with a Magni, VTR, controller, and no framebuffer! Ack! <g>

John, thanks for this information about the Magni working with Flitape. We have it on our Wishlist to actually get one! Nik
