Sorry it took so long to respond, but I have been totally tied up rendering
since I logged on to get the help for a couple of days in early June.
I decided the issue really wasn't my problem, and went to the ones that were
ultimately paying for it. They had been happy with the Gouraud shaded images
up until then, so I showed them the difference, and said "one week for this, or
5 weeks for that". The response was, "It is a no brainer. We don't have five
weeks."
So, even though, I would have liked to render in Metal, that stress was
relieved.
So that's what I did. And one week turned into over two. Anyway, it is at the
Video Production house now, and even though it was Gouraud shading, I was
getting some very wonderful comments on the animation. People were very pleased
with what they saw. It was supposed to be about thirty seconds, but was still
a little fast at 84 seconds.
For most people it would be very boring. It is a machine going through many
steps to move a semiconductor wafer through a process.
Thanks for everyone's help. I learned a lot on this one.
I also take my hat off to the folks that developed the PAR. I could never have
succeeded without it. And the new software (February) is great!
I also filled up a Micropolis 2217A with Targa files used as a backup in case
of a problem. 13 Megs left.
