I would like to know how can I integrate the FLI and FLC animations in Windows program ? Actually for integrating an AVI file it is enough to tell our Presentation program to insert an object and then selecting the MediaPlayer. This way when we use the presentation it opens automatically the related AVI file and when it is finished it closes it. I have downloaded the AAplay for Windows but can not use it this way. Do you know a program to let us use these kind of animations like AVI files ? Regards, Kamran

Karman, Download FLICIN.TXT from the library. It details how to accomplish this. -Brian

Brian, Thanks for reply the the FLICIN.TXT. I've install AAplay and the MCI driver and it works, but it plays just once the animation ! If I enable the Auto Repeat of the Mediaplayer to let our logo animation play all the time until we pass to another page of the presentation, Mediaplayer hangs the computer. The only way is to do CTRL+ALT+DEL to shut down the Mplayer. Also there is no Controls on the window showing the animation. Is there out a newer file letting us do this ? All are dated 1992 ! Regards, Kamran

Rather than setting up to play an animation (FLC file) you can also set it up to play a script (.AAS. file). The scripts that you create in the Windows player can have control features that you need like how many times to loop the animation, add sound, full screen, transitions, etc…. -brian

Very interesting Brian! Going to find some documentations on how to make script files for this player. Regards, Kamran

Brian, I have been following your very helpful suggestions on using the aaplay file and mciaap.drv file for playing fli and flc files. I downloaded the text file you suggested in a previous message and installed mciaap.drv in my sys.ini. I now see the Autodesk Animation 1.1 file in my control panel drivers list. However, I keep getting an error message and I think it relates to your previous comments about win.ini. I have no lines in win.ini referencing the driver to play fli or flc files. Is there a setup software program that I missed that does this automatically or do I need to put the lines into win.ini manually. If I need to do it manually, could you please tell me the specific syntax that goes on the lines and where it should go in win.ini. Do the following problems happen because I do not have references in win.ini? Gold Disk Astound Media Manager will not play a fli or flc file — it says my system not setup to play/recognize these files. Secondly, after using file associate with media manager in windows for fli and flc files, when clicking on a fli file I get the error message: "Cannot determine device type from given filename extensions. (The Autodesk Animation driver shows up as a device in my media manager under win 3.11) Thanks for all your help. Barry

Barry, The WIN.INI file is supposed to be automatically updated the first time you run the AAWIN player. It is possible that this is not set up properly if you try to access it via GOLD DISK's players. I would suggest doing the following: Download WINPLA.EXE (If you don't have it already). After extracting the file (IT is a self extracting archive) run the AAPLAY.EXE file that starts the Windows player. This archive will also extract the MCI driver, but it does not automatically install it. Follow the instructions in the doc file to manually intall the MCI driver. If it is still not working properly, then go to the file manager, highlight an FLC file, and then choose FILE/ASSOCIATE and choose the AAPLAY.EXE file to associate those extensions with the player utility.
