#Pinnacle CD-R

Does anyone have any experience or comments about the Pinnical CD-R drive? We
are thinking about getting one to record our own audio CDs.

There certainly are a lot of opinions about the Pinnacle, some good and some
not so good. Before you commit to a drive, do monitor this forum for a while
and try to sort them out and see how they might apply to your situation.
My opinion: I've just upgraded from an RCD200 to an RCD1000. I hated the
RCD200, but upgraded because it was moderately inexpensive (which is why I
bought the RCD200 in the first place). I do not particularly like the s/w that
ships with these drives – it has a smiley face that pleases reviewers and does
simple things okay, but quickly becomes tedious if you want to do anything more
complicated. It deletes files from your chosen list at glacial speed, for
instance. Executive summary: if you can afford something better, go for it.

PMJI – but have you considered how many remastered, high quality audio CDs you
could buy for what it would cost for the writer and the SW alone? Not to
mention the cost of the media?

PMFJI, I think Dana's keyboard burped, she left out the "F" in Pardon Me For
Jumping In or PMFJIH with the added "here" which is applied once in awhile.

That's too bad — you must have attended a school with English teachers not
trained in linguistics, but rather in "traditional" English grammar.
Grammarians are easily spotted because they are always telling people how they
"should" use language (the prescriptive school) rather than describing how
language is actually used according to scientific principles (the descriptive
school.) And all this *really* has a lot to do with "Pinnacle CD-R" doesn't
it? <G>

I did the same thing with a full glass of wine… the shift key kept getting
stuck. I read an article someplace that told me I could run the thing under
water (unplugged of course:-) wait for it to dry…. it worked <g>

Wish I'd read that article. I took mine apart and cleaned it with alcohol and
canned air…it didn't work.<g>

Alcohol shouldn't be wasted by cleaning keyboards 🙂

Why wait – use a blow drier. (old garage band trick… they tend to flood once
in a while)

Sorry to jump in & digress but as a french speaking, I never understood this
abreviation "PMFJI" ?

PMFJI means "Pardon Me For Jumping In".
Alternatively, PMJI means "Pardon My Jumping In".
Both initializations are used online when someone "jumps in" to a conversation
between two other people.

Yes, that is one of the things we are going to consider. Prob is we have a lot
of stuff that is not available on CD! I'll try to find the thread you
mentioned.

I've only written normal computer data. I've had some bad luck with their
"virtual image" system, so I always make an ISO image first, and that process
runs disappointingly slowly – far below the native transfer rate of the hard
drive – and you have to stand by the whole time to deal with the occasional
non-ISO filename. If you change your mind and want to delete some files from
the image, it's also very, very slow.
