Does anyone know the origin and intended purpose of the write protect tabs on
that back of CD caddies?
It would be handy if CD-R drive manufacturers were to implement support for
this since you could save yourself from those recording packages that start a
write after a test without permission. My experience is that no drives
recognize the presence or absence of the tabs. Anyone know different?
That's my thought practically, but I am really looking for background on the
origin of the tabs. What were they thinking?
