I have a mitsumi 2x cd-rom that's on the fritz and i'm ready to toss it. Have
had the unit for 1.5 years with lots of use. Three months ago started
experiencing "can't read drive d" replys when loading cd's. Most often a
"retry" solved the problem. Problem has gotten progressively worse and now am
unable to load any multimedia titles(encarta,myst,quicken,7th
guest,aegis,etc.). My cd-rom music disc's still play ok though. My config.sys
and autoexec.bat have not changed and i have not been able to get any help from
gw2000 other than "your out of warranty". Have tried a cd-rom drive cleaner ( 2
small brushes on a disc-cute little thing for $10) but no luck. Seems to me a
major item like cd-rom should not "wear out" in a year or so irrespective of
the warranty. Any help would be very appreciated.

I've got a simliar prob. since day 1, but I never wnet back to the dealer (I
though it was inherit of CROMS, especially the cheap ones with the magazines).
