Any idea why Autodesk UK charge us UKP 199 (or roughly $300)
for this kit which is on sale in the states for $25 ??
Could someone at Autodesk US please have a bitch at Autodesk UK
for us please ….

This question has come up once before. I don't know why there is such a
discrepancy between the two prices. I have sent an internal e-mail to the
Product Manager and will attempt to find out why it is so much more expensive.
When I get a response I will post it here for you.
In the meantime, Is there something specific you wanted from the ASL? Many of
the files are avaialble here on Compuserve as well.

Thanks for checking the price. We are 3DS dealers here in the UK
and it's _embarrasing_ when people come to us for the flic toolkit
and we have to tell them how much it costs!
We've tried speaking to Autodesk UK, but they just want to hide behind
the smokescreen of their distributors …. sigh!

I guess I just need to know the API for AAPLAY.DLL – I want to add
the ability to show FLI and FLC files from a Windows C prog.

In response to your post, the cost of the ASL is currently being reevaluated by
the different country offices. This doesn't guarantee a change, but it does
make sure they are aware of exactly what the ASL is and how much we charge for
it in the U.S. Country offices have discretion in setting the prices.
Unless you are under a deadline for a project, I would suggest waiting a short
time and then talking to the country office again. They may have made some
change by then. (Of course, they may not.)

Unfortunately project deadlines are rather tight – will Autodesk US
ship this product to the UK ? (I know that they won't with things like
3DS or AUtocad, but what about toolkits ?)

I have just put up a message asking where I can get the ASL's from in England.
I now hear the grisly truth regarding the price in this country! What a scam!!
Is there anyone out there who would purchase on our behalf, and then send it
on? Or is this not a legal thing?
I must say that I have come across similar price structures before. It would be
worth a trip to the States armed with a shopping list.
