Hi everyone, I recently saw screenshots of Schreiber's Puppeteer in a Multimedia Developers catalog. What is the latest version of Puppeteer? I thought it was 1.06, but the images I saw were either post-processed, or a much later version. Thanks for any info. Andy Roberts BITS Corp.

Yes as Martin pointed it's up to 1.10. It has a new feature Vertex Motion Editor. It allows the user to deform a mesh on the vertex level. This great feature allows the user to such thins a face motion tracking. Another point is the work flow is pretty straight forward. Give Schreiber a call and ask for the newest update Thomas Hickson will get it right out to you. Mike White [SDP]

Hi Mike, The vertex motion editor sounds very useful. Any thoughts on the stability of the current version? I'll get in touch with Schreiber. Thanks, Andy Roberts BITS Corp.

<<<Any thoughts on the stability of the current version?>>> I found it very stable. The little problem I found is in the vertex motion editor. Some times it doesn't like the puppet on *.VPM file. This isn't a major problem. The user just needs to import the motion with out the puppet, or just delete the puppet. I've been in close contact with Keith Seifert and Thomas Hickson at Schreiber on quarks and bugs. The next update will be around the end of August. Mike

Hi I saw puppeteer at last years siggraph, just a few questions (I hope you are the correct person to direct these at: – what motion capture systems can it except data from (i know biovision, any others, we are particularly interested in polhemus ultratrak system) – can you use it for facial expression (lip sync etc) – ie can it do face level deformations. – how much does it cost and what version is it now on. Thanks for any reponse in advance & i look forward to seeing schreiber at siggraph this year. james (uk)

<<<- what motion capture systems can it except data from (I know bio vision, any others, we are particularly interested in polhemus ultratrak system) >>> Mainly it depends on how the motion file has been captured, and translated. Say for instance if you were to capture through the SGI it will work if the translation is done properly. Puppeteer supports it's own file *.ipt. puppeteer also supports *.txt , *.asc *.aoa, *.vpm, and *.trc. Now the text and ascii file really depend on how it was acquired and translated. If tour interested I can up load a couple motion files so you can see how the file format is. <<<<< – can you use it for facial expression (lip sync etc) – ie can it do face level deformations. – how much does it cost and what version is it now on. >>>>>> Right now Schreiber is up to version 1.10 and will not be any updates until around the end of August. Yes it will let you capture face tracking data and in the newest version it comes with a AXP for vertex deformation. This is on the vertex level not face level . This allows the user more control on the deformation. The price is around 600.00 no charge on upgrade. I hope I answered your question. If you have any more please ask and I'll answer. Mike

Thanks for your answers to my questions <<If your interested I can up load a couple motion files so you can see how the file format is>> it would be really helpful to see any examples……thanks again
