Danny, I just uploaded a JPG of the aligator I told you about to the IPAS library. It should be viewable in a day or so. (gatorhd.jpg) I did it with your Metaballs modeler in very little time. I love the preview window and your whole interface is cool. I will complete the animaton by the end of the weekend and upload a flic. Everybody is going to love this IPAS! Great coding. Thanks. Regards Sanford

Thanks Sanford, Too bad the gator won't be visible till tomorrow. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Any luck yet with the metaball splash? Danny…

Danny – I "caught" the alligator this AM and it is in the public libraries now. Anne

Thanks Anne, I got it. Looks great! BTW, Can't remember if I already asked you this but, are you going to Siggraph? Danny…

Danny, The splash will be a "brute force" type animaiton. Moving all those balls around is confusing at first. Thank 3DS for color selection sets. I'm still trying to figure out small ripples that indicate the gator's progress through the water. I'm about to put bones in the gator's head. I don't know scripting well enough to use that on the water. Somebody should come up with a bunch of cool water textures that animate…. I have tried the Mirage ipas, but its textures cannot emanate from a single point and then move across leaving waves behind. Lots to figure out. I will try metaballs for the long ripples. Sanford

>> Somebody should come up with a bunch of cool water textures that animate. << That would be nice to have! Like your gator! Nice texture work. The image is a bit darkish, but it may just be my monitor dying. <g> Say Anne, can you do a mod com once a file is uploaded? One of the keywords is SANDORD, instead of SANFORD. <g> Paul SANFORD

Paul, Glad you liked the gator. I'm building the splash where the gator attacks the bird.. . I am mixing Vapor IPAS particles into the Metaballs with a large particle size to make the part of the splash that breaks up into tiny drops. I'm putting emitter objects into the water attached to metaball objects. Vapor emitter AXP boxes are placed around the Aligator's head. The dummys will follow certain metaballs that form the lip of the splash. Sanford

Sounds like a good plan for the splash. I haven't used Vapor or Metaballs. It'd be great if you would upload a flic of the splash when you're done! Paul S.

Paul, I will upload a flic of the Splash to show you how metaballs and vapor work together. They both are very cool IPAS's. Sanford
