#help!VP cant find textur
5 messages in this thread
Has anyone had the experience in 3ds4 where video post can't find any of the
texture maps for a scene. The same scene renders with no problem outside of
video post. I've tried messing with the 3ds.set mapping and VP settings as well
as the file configuration settings with no luck. the video post works fine with
other scenes using other textures. It's a complicated animated scene so I'm
hoping it's not corrupted in some way that will mean I have to rebuild it.
Help! I'm desperate for advice on this one.
Thanks,
Jeff

VP seems particularly temperamental when seeking images. Be certain to go into
the configuration dialog and verify that you have all the proper map paths
designated. Also, wherever possible, use IFL's when you are using numbered
sequences of images.

Thanks for the response Dave – unfortunately I've triple checked all of the
path designations and they appear to be fine. The crazy thing is that the
regular renderer and the materials program see the textures with no problem – I
don't get the error message until I try to render in video post and I'm not
even trying to deal with animated maps at this point. Anyway I guess I'm stuck
rendoring out the scene and background starfield seperately and compositing
them after the fact.
major bummer.
thanks though,
Jeff

Are you network rendering? Be certain to put your Stars.ixp on each local hard
drive's "process" directory.

Nope – no network, just one pentium that doesn't want to do textures for this
particular file in video post. I can't even render the file without the stars
and not get the texture error message in video post although it sure works
great outside of VP. I think the original file is corrupted in some weird way
but it is far too detailed to remake so I'm going to go ahead and rendor the
animation outside of VP and put the stars in after.
I hate when I end up spending more time messing with the software than actually
creating the work. Oh well, that's the computer animation life.
Thanks again,
Jeff
