SCULPT 3-D, my new ray tracing, 3-D solid modeling system started shipping by Byte by Byte last monday, July 27. It has a mouse driven interactive interface for building objects and renders shaded polygons (like VideoScape) as well as raytracing for more realistic images including smooth shading (Phong), shadows, reflections and transparency. All Amiga resolution modes are supported including HAM. Image sizes range from postage stamp size to 704 by 440 overscan. It generates files for frame buffers like Mimetics' new one (640 by 480 by 2 million colors [or is it 16 million?]). Look at RoboCity News or Amazing Computing for reviews of SCULPT. Images take from a few seconds to many hours to generate, depending upon complexity, size, resolution and rendering method.
