Hi Gang… Just thought that I would mention that there is NO SALES TAX on software in the state of Chicago!!! NONE!!! I complained at Creative Computers and after being called some names by the owner…. got a refund on the "TAX" he charged… sounded more like an easy way for him to make an extra 8% profit!!! NO :> – Doug –

AmiEXPO really dropped the ball on finding the sales tax information for developers. In LA last fall, they alerted the local taxation agency, who sent out forms to everyone who ordered a booth. In Chicago, developers were still asking each other about the sales tax moments before the show started, and the word got around that it was eight percent.

I'm confused. When did Chicago become a state? And did they have to use union-labor to draw the dotted lines around it? Seriously, I talked at that guy, and he seemed REAL angry that he had to charge the tax at this show, because he felt alot of people weren't buying product because of it. And he handed out coupons for 5% off their price for folks to mail-order, with no shipping fee, as an enticement to keep 'em interested. Almost sounds like he screwed up and didn't check the laws carefully enough. Oops.
