The slowness is a function of the AmigaDOS system, a faster DOS would make
the icons all blink up there in a second or two–far shorter time than it
would take you to zero in on and click an icon, hence as far as usage goes
it would be as fast as is necessary. The Workbench has a lot of problems,
but slowness of icon display is not one of its problems (its an AmigaDOS
problem).
