Bill, The CMI video board (the V-I2000, right?) is the best encoder I've seen for under $700. It uses the same encoder chip as do most of the other low cost encoder/genlocks (including the SuperGen), but implements the support circuitry correctly (unlike the A1000). The resolution of the Amiga with a CMI (for example) is *better* than the (pixel) resolution of the best network studio TV camera. What makes broadcast TV look so good (even after transmission) is that a "live" scene (as opposed to a computer-generated image) has less contrast, usually more movement, and most important, the equivalent of millions of colors. Making a comparison video tape would not be useful (to me). After the tape duplication process(es) (especially on VHS or Beta), the differences between encoders would be greatly reduced. It would also give an (unfair?) advantage to the existing encoders, making it more difficult for other mfrs to get their product known and accepted. What do you think? —Mike
