Yeah there was alot of 3D stuff around. The only viable set-up I saw for the Amiga was from Haitex. Their system uses the LCD glasses, but they seemed alot brighter and had less flicker than earlier tektronix systems. We are going to try and whip up a driver for both Silver and Diamond to see if a 3D paint or renderer is something the market is interrested in. Personally I think it's great, but I still buy 3D Gumby comix with the red-green glasses!

I've got the 3D glasses and they are great!!! With Turbo-Silver the images seem to jump out of the screen, unlike others….. But it would be great if you guys would make the wire-frame preview work with the Haitex-3D glases. As far as the difficulty in doing this, I understand that it is VERY easy to obtain the source from Haitex and VERY easy to add to your code. I say go for it!!!

Tim; We were working with Haitex in the very early stages, and for various reasons we got side tracked. We are waiting for them to send us a release set of the glasses, and then we intend to rip into the code again. As for doing a wire frame, it is easy. We do have another project in mind, that we would like to include your talents in for Comdex fall. Please give me a call at 800-328-0184.

Yeah, I saw the Haitex glasses at AmiExpo and also thought they worked less "intrusively" than the Tektronix setup that I saw at NAECON. Hopefully, your trial-application will look at least as good as 3D exploding Barbies!

I hope so too. The problem Haitex is having is supply. The trade prob extends to lots of components. They should be able to catch up soon though.

They were selling so many at AmiExpo that by the last day, they were out. I Bought my pair at the closing of the Expo on Saturday and they had about 10 sitting on the table, I asked if they were selling and she told me that these are the last of the bunch. She also told me that they brought around 300 glasses to the expo. That's a pretty good selling! Anyway, she did say that the glasses were a pre-release, but the hardware wouldn't change, only the software. If interested parities would like to have a pair of Haitex glasses it would probably be best to get them through the company. Of course, if they keep selling the way they did at the Expo, It might take a while.

Once Turbo is in the BAG we really want to move on the 3D player. I don't know if I mentioned in my last message, but you should give me a call about the SONY movie for COMDEX. 800-328-0184.

I've got the Haitex glasses, and am preparing an InterChange module that works with them, as well as red-blue comic glasses and regular wireframes. It's up and working, we're now speeding it up. We want to call it QuickView. So, with this, you can view any 3D object from the formats supported in InterChange, which includes Sculpt, VideoScape, Turbo Silver and Forms in Flight.

We were able to make a home-brew interface for the Sega glasses that worked with Wade's code, several months ago, but we probably were applying the wrong voltage as we toasted 2 sets of LCD's. The complexity of a quad-buffering system to be able to do animations. was something we are waiting until be get the current version buttoned up to do. Ther was also another outfit with a slightly different system, which purported to be brighter sharper with less flicker. But those folks were at SIGGRAPH and the glasses they had were just HORRID! it was like looking through a glass of milk or what it might be like to have cataracts.! We told Shawn to send us a few sets on when he gets his backorders taken care of and we'll whip up a player. Let me know about the IC module.
