I just downloaded HAMGIF (displays .gif files in HAM), SAVEIFF (captures a screen and saves in .iff format) and showGIF (supposed to display a gif file) and have some problems/questions. – first, HAMGIF works great, I'm converting some TARGA files to GIF them porting it to my Amiga 2000 via 3 1/2 disks and Dos-2-Dos. – second, showGIF doesn't seem to work. Every time I try I get a software error, Guru message and a reboot…any ideas? – third, SAVEIFF ( seems to work, but since I can only use HAMGIF to display my .gif files, the .iff files look real wierd when captured. It could be because HAM is a wierd display mode and SAVEIFF can't capture it. When I say wierd, the image's palette is totally off, and the image looses resolution. Maybe somebody can give me some direction from here…I've got a targa, utilittie to convert .tga to .gif and can port it to the Amiga o.k. but now I can't get it into any paint programs, like Delux Paint II or Digi Paint….. …..H E L P !!!!…..

Okay… First comment: Forget ShowGIF. It's a very early GIF display program which only handles pics up to 32 colors. HAMGIF does everything ShowGIF does and more. Second… I'm not too familiar with SAVEIFF. I use Grabbit! (A commercial screen grabber by Discovery Software) to do my screen dumps and it works fine with HAMGIF in all modes. Probably SAVEIFF doesn't know about HAM mode. There is also probably a more recent screen capture program around here somewhere which works better… (One of these days I'll get around to setting up a disk with the librarys and some search tools… <grin>) Finally, don't expect to be able to load HAM pics into Deluxe Paint II. DigiPaint, yes, but not Deluxe Paint II. –>Steve Bennett
