Betty, (I hope you weren't joking with Jay…) "machine-readable" does NOT mean
that you can read the schematics on the screen. It is a widely-used term which
means that the information is stored in a form that can be used on a computer.
A magazine article becomes "machine-readable" if someone types it (or scans it)
into a computer so that it is stored on disk, tape, optical gizmo, or whatever.
In the case of the schematics, "machine-readable" would mean that the
drawing can be read by at least one of the Amiga CAD programs – probably not by
a bitmap-oriented paint program because of the insufficient resolution of the
screen (as you point out). Anyway, you COULD then read the schematic on the
screen, but probably not all at once – you would call up the page you want and
then scan over it.
