The "Please insert SoundScape Disk" protection (or I'll guru for you)
protection. I don't have 1.4 – they _did_ send me a card saying "You will
recieve your free upgrade to 1.4 soon" and that's it. Perhaps they wised up – i
hope so, I love the program. –Ben–

Yep, I tried it with a copy. I did not get a "Please insert SoundScape Disk"
requestor (but then the copy was named SOUNDSCAPE); I just got the guru. I
just never noticed it before (rarely use it).

Never, EVER name a copy SoundScape:. The CP code goes out, reads
SoundScape: for the munged sector, doesn't find it, assumes you are a
thief, and grabs your guru by the short hairs. CP that doesn't let you run
a legitimate backup is bad enough. CP that is so narrowminded as to crash
a multitasking system (SoundScape, Dr. T's KCS and patch librarians… they
all use the same CP code from the same supplier) suck canal water.
You said it Rick!!! I HATE the copy protection of Dr. T's. Sometimes Dr.
T bombs on the legitimate original disk, which of course, bombs the whole
system. I've also had my original disk go bad, and since the backup I
ordered hadn't arrived yet, I got to program my FB-01 from the front panel
(not a pretty sight) for two weeks.
I've also found that you have to copy the whole disk from the workbench. I
tried just copying the FB-01 and DX-X editor programs alone onto to
seperate disks…bombs away even with the original-key disk inserted. I
can't even imagine using Dr. T's programs in a live situation. BTW, have
you found anything that will copy these disks. I've already spent $30 on
back-ups and I would really like an extra copy of each.
Right – if it was named something else, or you had it on the HD, it would have
acted (sorta) nice and asked you to put in the disk. If you have an assign or a
bad copy, bingo, it bites you. Moronic programming at it's best. –Ben–
