what I was talking about was make sure that the scsi controller follows the
scsi spec far enough for you. Arbatration is one area that most people fail to
look at.

Can you go into some detail? I know nothing about hardware. I'm
currently using the 2090 with both a ST-506 and a scsi drive. Can you
enlighten me as to why I might want to consider changing controllers? I'm not
trying to 'bait' you — to me a controller is a controller as long as my drives
work!

Why you might want a C Ltd. controller instead of brandx is,
Scsinet (more that one computer on one hard drive)
LaserXpress (300 dpi DESKTOP publishing) aka watch out M*C!
Scannner support (also at 300dpi)
True ansi specs, with arbration

I'de get your SCSI controller, but I've heard that it is the slowest
one out! It does not have DMA or auto-boot with Workbench 1.3. If you guys
would put together a faster auto-boot drive, I would go with you, otherwise
I'll just have to go with the Overdrive or other controllers that give me
the speed a hard drive should!
Does the over drive give you 327k/sec reads with a 65ms drive? We did a
test with Our new stuff, and an miniscribe 8438 and tested with the PD
program Diskperf, got 327k. We have not tested with Overdrive. As for
Autoboot its ib the works, and C Ltd has ALWAYS had a low cost upgrade for
their products.
I'm getting over 200K/Sec with my NON-DMA, 65MS drive, on my A1000 with the
SCSI Host/controller. On the A2000, with a 2090 DMA drive with a 40MS
drive, I'm getting 249K/Sec. Sounds like they're doing OK to me..

An engineer (hardware weenie type) once told me that SCSI was a moving target
easily interpreted to fit the hardware already made. Is that a fair assesment?
