If you have three megabytes, just boot up with a dedicated system and
font/DA disk, copy it to the RAM disk–which is inserted by pressing F1,
and shutdown/restart. This frees up your floppy(ies) from system disk or
system disk space requirement, and gives you the fastest MAC reboot in
history. I generally set my AMAX memory to 1024K–few MAC applications
need more than this with the exception of Multifinder–and use the rest as
a RAD:. There is plenty of room for the system, fonts, and a major
application like WORD or EXCEL. Putting these in RAM eliminates lots of
disk swapping and also lots of disk access; this constant accessing is what
really slows the MAC down. Try it, you'll like it!
