Well, here's DEC's PDP-11 "surprise":
Digital has announced the 11/93 and 11/94, Q-bus and UNIBUS (respectively)
high-end systems in the PDP-11 family. They are said to perform 40% faster
than the 11/83 and 11/84 which they replace. Pricing appears to be
identical to corresponding 11/8x systems: a System Building Block with 2Mb
RAM, for instance, lists at $14,175 (11/93), the same price as the
equivalent 11/83.
Additionally, Digital has introduced the VT420 dual-session text terminal,
with off-screen memory, 14" flat screen, overscan, and a variety of other
features. A three-year warranty is standard; quantity-1 pricing is $629.
Finally, Digital has announced the LA70 personal printer, a new entry-level
dot-matrix printer with top speeds of 200cps (draft mode) and both serial
and parallel interfaces. List price on this baby is $499.
Somewhat more information, but not a whole lot, on the above products can
be found on Digital's Electronic Store. Look in the "Press releases" area.
