Betty, One little comment and what a barrage of messages I've gotten! I too had a 1000 the January after they appeared. It never had a problem and it had a StarBoard II hanging on it. I then acquired a 2000 with a Rev 4.3 motherboard and it worked flawlessly for years. I had 5 Megs of RAM in it along with a 2090 and then 2090A and then 2091. When I added the 2620 and the 2286 though the small timing difference between the early machines and the current ones began to show up. Dave Haynie and I worked through all field upgrades and I finally decided to use the old 1000 to trade up to a current 2000. That's the machine I'm using now. A Rev 6.2B motherboard and just very flakey. See my message in the printers section for the latest. As for quality control, it is probably as good as possible for a company of Commodore's size. That's not a put down, I'm much more accustomed to equipment from IBM and Tektronix. Their quality control is vastly different from what Commodore has. Sometimes it's more a point of view than anything else. Example: I didn't like the newest keyboards being shipped with the 2000's so I kept using the old one from my first 2000. I'm sure some people find the newer keyboard superior to the old one! Maybe I just got the proverbial lemon. If so I'll get it replaced while it's still under warranty! Keith
