I thought you must have been working pretty hard. When a fellow turns down
food, it must be for a good reason! Sorry it didn't work out better. Maybe
you'll be back sometime?
Anyway, I'm glad you made it home safely, and I do hope you get some rest
there. How did the testing go? Or can you say?

The testing went great. 🙂 I came home bubbling with ideas, which is
always a good sign after a trip. Poor Bob, he had to suffer through my
brainstorms all through Oklahoma. I picked up some great books at
Siggraph, too, plus some X Window books… I'll be able to announce what we
accomplished soon, and/or it could be part of this upcoming online
conference on networking.
Marvelous, John! Networking has been needed so badly for so long…..great
to see it coming along well.
Hope your ideas bring you back to Texas.

Yup, we drove. Bob and I don't mind long trips; we had too much sensitive
equipment to air-ship, we had indefinite travel plans, we'd have needed to
rent cars, etc. so we drove. I left Dallas on Saturday, got home Sunday
noon. Almost as good as flying. I don't think we went through Oklahoma
City. I remember Muskogee. BTW, I liked Oklahoma much more than Arkansas.
Lots of people had told me Oklahoma was "the armpit of the world", but I
liked it. Arkansas? Kinda scary. Saw one car with a David Duke
bumpersticker *and* a Confederate flag sticker. A little overkill, I
thought – only one of the two would have had the same effect. 🙂
hehehe. Glad you like OK… I consider Iowa the armpit of the world, myself
<grin>. Glad you liked my bumper sticker (oops.. <grin>). Hey, have you
considered writing for DDJ? We were all hyped up over writing for them
months ago, but nobody has, that I know of (no amigans). this month they've
got an article on M2 and another on ray tracing, surely something an amigan
could have written about! <sigh> ah, well. Have fun in Madison. Has winter

Actually, one Texan said Oklahoma reminded him of Iowa, and that he
considered both of them "armpits". Having been to Iowa many times, and
having untold hundreds of relatives there, I can vouch for what the Texan
said. When you go to Iowa, you have to set your watch back ten years.
Yes, I've thought about writing for DDJ. I've talked with their editors,
and they're receptive… it's just a matter of picking a good, appealing
topic and finding the time to write. Have you seen my PC reviews in
Compute PC? 🙂
Hehehe… well, I was born in Dallas, and recently lived in Lewisville,
TX…. all I can say is that particular Texan must be EXTREMELY near
sighted. Iowa, crappy as it is, doesn't resemble Mars at all.
No, I haven't seen your PC reviews in Compute PC, I don't get any of the
Compute Mags anymore (I already spend too much on mags). I'd like to see
your writing in DDJ, so if you have trouble finding a topic, lemme help. 🙂
