Is there any script or screenplay writing program (possibly some sort of
"module" for WordPerfect) available for the Amiga? If not, why not? If so,
what is it and where can I get one? Thanks, J.
Supposedly the best one for this is ProWrite. I think one of the mags said
something about it being able to have two columns side by side which were
linked across so that descriptions would stay with the appropriate blocks.
I could be wrong about which program it was.
ProWrite can handle A/V scriptwriting with its side-by-side column support.
In fact, this is the very reason we put this feature into ProWrite. To my
knowledge, it is the only Amiga program that will do this.

When I was in a screenplay writing class I customized PC-Write (a PC
shareware word processor) to do the margins and formatting correctly. It's
a real pain to do it "by hand", even with a word processor!
Now I use UEDIT (Amiga shareware) for most of my word processing needs;
it would be easy to program it to do screenplay writing. -Roger
Thanks, Roger. I'm not exactly sure what it is that screenwriting software
is supposed to do – is it primarily a formatting thing, using different
settings for dialogue and description? Or is it something more esoteric,
with storyboarding or other specialised elements? I know that there are a
few progs out there for IBM and Mac, including a Hypercard system, and am
surprised that we have been left out. I tend to think of the West Coast as
a computer-oriented region, annd, since everyone in California is "working
on a screenplay", it seems a fairly logical package to develop…. J.
As a pro screenwriter myself, I have to say unfortunately there is
nothing now on the Amiga that does 100% pure scriptwriting. ProWrite is
what I use now, and I did use TextPro for quite some time prior to that.
If you really want scriptwriting programs, buy a BridgeBoard and
get one of the many IBM-comp. pieces of software like Scriptor. That's what
I did…

Thanks, J.R. I have yet to master my Amiga and its software, let alone
starting over on a mutant hybrid ! I shall just hope that something
appopriate will appear. J.
Could you describe what Scriptor does? I am wondering if TurboText could
be made to emulate it.
Scriptor is simply a program which takes an ASCII text file that is
semiscript formatted and adds all of the scene numbers, the "CONT'D"'s and
such. It sells for $350 which is WAY overpriced for what it does, and it's
rather buggy too. Buy used if you ever see it.
