Dear Autodesk Sysop:
I have 3D Studio and have a question regarding Targa files.
A friend wants me to render a 24-bit Targa file from a picture I have
created in 3D Studio. I do not have Targa hardware so I must produce it in
DEFAULT-DISPLAY="NULL" mode. The only other relevant controls I saw for the
3DS.SET file were SET TARGASET=T24, USE ALPHA=NO, IMAGE COMPRESSION=ON and
IMAGE-TYPE=TARGA.
Did I miss something else for the SET file because – using those controls –
I did get a Targa file but it appeared very low-res when I viewed it with
VPIC (a public domain viewing utility) and it was only 35K which is much
smaller than I would expect for a Targa? My friend wanted the Targa to be
2048 wide by the corresponding 1346? or so height. How would I specify
that since resolution would usually be specified with the DEFAULT-DISPLAY
statement which should be set to NULL?
Also, should I use image compression, because is this a standard
compression that someone can decompress in a program like Lumena?
I would very much appreciate your help on this.
Sincerely yours,
Peter Nowellu
Peter, you've got to type the resolution and aspect ratio in the
Render/Setup/Configure dialog, in _addition_ to selecting the NULL device.
Imagee compression should be ON.
This is all covered in the docs.
