rejuvinator questions
7 messages in this thread
Hello. I am considering upgrading my Amiga 1000 with the Rejuvinator board.
My needs are simple. CHIP RAM! I would like to get 2 MB of chip
ram on my 1000. Will the Rejuvinator handle it? Is the 2MB chip available
yet? I also have the Spirit 1.5M memory board, and the HDA 506
hard drive adapter on my system. Can the Rejuvinator handle those as well?
If anyone has info/experience with any issues or related issues,
a shout would be most welcome. BTW, does anyone know what Commodore/Amiga
will want dollar-wise for the 2M chip set? Many thanks, Bob.
I have the Rej. with the Spirit board, and they work just fine togeather.
Yes the Rej. can handle the 2 Meg Agnus. You might want to talk to Greg
Tibbs who designed the Rejuvenator, he can answer your question better than
anyone. I have gotten help from him here and on the Amigatech forum.

If your A1000 has the kickstart daughterboard (Most US and Canada A1000s
do), then the Rejuvenator can gve you one or two megabytes of chip ram. The
Rejuvenator works fine with the Spirit 1.5M Ram board, and have never heard
for the HDA 506. The Rejuvenator comes with the proper Agnus chip when you
buy it. I don't generally allow Agnusless Rejuvenators out as they must be
tested to work with teh Rejuvenator.
If you wish, you can reuse your existing Denise and Paula, or upgrade to
the ECS Denise (at additional cost). The parts are available thru the
manufacuter, Expert Services (CBM need not be involved).

I have a Spirit XRam board plugged into the side of my 1000. Will that
board work with the Rejuvenator? I understand that Expert will install the
Rej board for a small fee if the machine is sent to them, do you know about
how small that fee is?

I believe the fee is $45. We have had problems with the XRAM in the past,

I'm actually more interested in getting my machine up to todays standards
rather than using some external ram card, so do you know of a ram expansion
(perhaps even internal) that will allow me to bring my 1000 upto the max
(currently 9 megs, with 2 megs of chip 10 megs) that will also work with
the Rej? Perhaps you know of an external chassis for 2000 cards that will
work, as I also have a bare 8UP board that I could transfer the chips to
from the XRAM.

The 8-up in a Phoenix toolbox has been successfully used by some people. I
have no real confidence in any of the unbuffered expansion boxes.
