Don, As Steve said…those are cursor control characters because CIS thinks you've got an ANSI (vt100 type) terminal based on your settings here. You can do as he says and go default and change to TTY or if you wish to keep those settings for use with another terminal program you may use…simply append an '*TTY' to your ppn when you login via BackTalk (you can set it up as a macro on one of the F keys) so you'd enter: login: 75126,705*TTY Or, while on-line, at any CIS prompt type SET TERM TTY Don
