#A2000 Fan(Heat Problem)

Is the fan in the Amiga 2000 supposed to run all the time? Or is it
some how variable speed depending on the amount of heat build up?
Mine doesn't always seem to be running. The airflow out of the box is
not very forceful, I can barely feel it sometimes. This causes my 2000 to
heat up quite a bit some days since I have a full load of cards in it (GVP
Series II hard drive, CBM 2052 Ram Board, XT Bridgeboard, XT RAM, VGA
Board, and XT Hard Drive)

As far as I know, it runs all the time. Someone said the 3000 fan is
variable speed though. There is some sort of sensor on the 2000. If the fan
fails, the computer will not power up. I don't know if it senses the lack
of air flow, or improper current flow through the fan motor. If you need to
replace the fan, it's not available seperately as a part – at least in the
U.S. Radio Shack sells a replacement that will fit most of the supplies
I've seen.

my 2000 powers up fine, and that's usually when the fan doesn't run at
all: I need to give it a little nudge.
I will look into a replacement at Radio Shack (or elsewhere).
