I new I was doing something wrong! It must be on the local X and Y axis. I
got it to work now. I am going to have to make a anim to show off at the
user meeting.

Tony,
I was wondering, are there User Groups located in different areas ?
I live in the New York / New Jersey area and was wondering if there were any
user groups around here. If not I think it's a good time to start one !
Where abouts do you hail from ? I've been out here on the sideline
for a few months dropping in in person every now and then looking for a little
info til I can get my hands on 3.0 and more importantly ….. Some
documentation !
If anyone else is in the area and feels it would be helpful in
building their skills to form a user group ( assuming one does'nt exist )
Feel free to drop in on this thread !
Thanks,
Brendan Gallagher
Howdy Brendan. I'm in Brooklyn. Armato's in Queens has a Toaster Users
Group. Then their QCUG also in Queens. I'm not too familiar with either
tho since I've never been to eithers meetings.
Hey Peter,
Brooklyn ? I grew up in Brooklyn. Lived in Flatbush must of my life. I
live out on the Rock now ( Staten Island ). I wonder if there are any other
local boys out here ?
Brendan G.
Dunno of any Staten Island users Groups. If you don't already call The
Trade N Post BBS by all means start. I posted the # in Amigaarts yesterday
or the day before. Sorta online User Groups tho I do argue with ALOT of
people on their.
I'd be interested if it were in Bergen County, NJ.

>I was wondering, are there User Groups located in different areas?
Yes, There are LOTS of different User Groups all over the world. Since you
live in NY area I am sure Peter Greci will let you know what you have
available around you. In a area as large as NY I am sure there are several
Amiga User Groups around.
>Where abouts do you hail from?
I was born in Dominican Republic (large island between Puerto Rico and
Cuba) and am now living in Tampa, FL.

Believe it or not I only know of 2 User's groups here in NY. The QCUG and
a Toaster Group out of Armato's Video.
>Believe it or not I only know of 2 User's groups here in NY.
You have GOT TO BE KIDDING ME! I would have thought there would be
LOTS of Amiga/VT user groups out there. In the Tampa/St. Pete area
there are 4 Amiga or VT user groups and then there is Siggraph, which
is mostly Amiga users.
There may be more but I'm only familiar with 2. It is Mind boggling tho
that a place as big as NY could only have 2 User's groups.
>It is Mind boggling tho that a place as big as NY could only have 2
>User's groups.
Yes it is.
Have you meet a guy named Fori Owurowa? He lives in Brooklyn. The
reason I ask is because I just found this GREAT program called
FreeForm which is a BSpline and NURBs editor for Real3D, LightWave,
Caligary and Imagine. It is REALLY COOL!!! Nice interface and easy to
use. I have only played around with it but I plan on getting to
`know' this puppy and register it.
New York DOES seem to be a gloomy place for AMIGA. At least in
Manhattan, I don't think there's any more Amiga Dealers left (The
last remaining store ((I forgot it's name)) didn't seem enthusiastic
about AMIGA, they just wanted to get rid of the software inventory
they had). I always saw AMIGA as sort of an West coast thing. Or is
it?
You must be talking about Digital Dimension's on 7th Avenue. The
Owner, John Song, was sorta OUT THERE in his thinking. At one point
he said if you wanted to see the A4000 Demoed it would cost you $50.
If yer a New Yorker try Tri-State and B & H Photo, they carry Amiga
Video goodies. You won't get any Games there but Toaster and other
Video Related stuff they carry. In Brooklyn you can go to Computer
Software Plus on Kings Highway. In Queens there's Armato's
>New York DOES seem to be a gloomy place for AMIGA.
I always thought NY was a gloomy place for ANYTHING. :^)
>I always saw AMIGA as sort of an West coast thing. Or is it?
There are alot of Amiga Users over on the west coast but one day when the
BIG earthquake hits them we are going to loose most of the Amiga users so
we better build up elsewhere. :^)
Central Florida is pretty active although it could always be better. I
only know of one Amiga dealer (Tampa/St. Pete) that is REALLY a `good
dealer'. The other 3 dealers aren't as motivated.
Are you in Asia? Your user id tells me your from across the pond and
your names says you might be from the Orient. How is the Amiga user
base over there?
Yeah, I'm from JAPAN, where it's supposed to be high-tech, but
actually everything is pretty low tech. Did you see the article on
the horrible situation of the Internet in Japan in WIRED?
Amiga is not very popular, except in video production. Amiga does have
a hard time handling Japanese charachters. Commodore JAPAN is not
doing much about it, most of the efforts are Voluntary efforts on the
user side. I have no idea how big the community is, lets just say
"small but enthusiastic."
There is one TV program though, which is virtually an Amiga CG
animation showcase. It has this live interaction with CG generated
characters and living actors, totally incredible. Of course, they
don't announce that those CGs are done by the Amiga, but the word is
spreading (I hope).
FYI, "NRI" is my company's name. I'm using their account.
>Did you see the article on the horrible situation of the Internet in
>Japan in WIRED?
No, I don't read WIRED. What has happened?
>Amiga does have a hard time handling Japanese charachters. Commodore
>JAPAN is not doing much about it
This sounds familiar. :^) CBM USA has the same habit of NOT doing much
about some things.
>There is one TV program though, which is virtually an Amiga CG animation
>showcase.
What is the name of the show and what is it about? How do you know
that they were done on Amigas? Do you do any kind of CG(Computer
Graphics)?
I'm not familiar with anyone known as Fori Owurowa. I imagine he's
Japanese by that name eh? Who knows….He may be on Trade N Post which is
about the BEST BBS in NY for Amiga owners but everyone uses a Handle on
their like back in the Heyday of CB Radio's. Is "Freeform" here on
compuserve? Thanx Tony
I don't know him, I just d/l'ed his program. It is called FreeForm and
is already here in lib 14 as FFORM.LHA. It is only a demo so you
can't save (I think) but it looks very good.
PS. the only thing that bugs me is that it opens up lots of screens.
<<< Tony D. Tracer >>>

Thanx maybe I'll DL it later
Tony,
Thanks for the response. Guess we might have to put something together
up here. Hope you folks dont discriminate, but I'm a P.C. user. Maybe if there
was some interest from local NY/NJ users we could do a traveling show user-net.
Meet in different lo-cals. Or even via the wire.
Oh, by the way Tony, with this less than ideal NorthEast weather, that
Florida life is sounding pretty tempting for next winter >>> Burrrrrrrr!!!
Brendan Gallagher
>Hope you folks dont discriminate, but I'm a P.C. user.
You sound like the guy in the Hundai commercial. :^)
>Maybe if there was some interest from local NY/NJ users we could do a
>traveling show user-net.
I thought it might be nice for user groups, better yet VT groups, to
produce a video tape of the group and share with other groups. The club I
am acting president of doesn't have the resources to be able to do this
but another local group does and might be interested in doing something.
>with this less than ideal NorthEast weather, that Florida life is
>sounding pretty tempting for next winter >>>
We are actually having a LONG and HARD winter but we are now having lows
in the 40s-50s and highs in the 60s-80s. A couple of weeks ago we were
having lows in the high 30s and am glad that is over with. I don't know
how people live in that cold weather. I did live in NYC for 13 yrs but
wouldn't go back and the weather is only 1 reason why.
<<< Tony D. Tracer >>>
(Any render time >0 needs acceleration.)
aaaahhh Come on Back Tony, It was only -30 or so with the Wind chill
factor a couple o days ago. Cold enuff to freeze yer boogers is my
yardstick of when it is TRULY cold and that day surely was COLD!!!!!
]
Tony,
I don't know how you folks do it. I must tip my hat to ya. It sounds
like something out of that movie S.U.R.V.I.V.E., ……..Alone, on the western
coastline of Florida. Day after day, they fought for their very lives, with
only their surfboards and their Pina-Coladas keeping them alive….. No
sympathy up here my friend.
Anyway the VT group sounds interesting. I am just in the process of
upgrading my ( well lets call a spade a spade ) trashing my old piece of S__t
P.C.
and setting up shop with a crispy new Pentium based 16mg, PCI bus, Monster
Truck with a 17" monitor. I got chills of anticipation. Once I get up and
cranking I'll feel alot more functional.
P.S. Has anybody any experience with video in/out cards such as VTX-2000 ?
Brendan G.

You made me laugh with that one. :^)
Anyway, you can't really surf on the west side of Florida, the waves are
just too small. It does get a bit cold here at times, sometimes down in
the 30s. This winter hasn't been a real cold one for us just alot longer
than normal. There is usually only a couple of weeks (2 or 3) of COLD
weather, the rest of the winter is just cool mornings and warm afternoons.
The weather just started to warm up for us since I didn't have to wear any
sweaters today, lows was in the 50s and his was in the upper 70s.
>Anyway the VT group sounds interesting.
I will talk to a friend of mine and try and get this user group tape
going.

If this SNOW keeps up here in NY I might as well up and move to Kahnawakke
Canada onto the Indian Rez. I HATE HATE HATE SNOW!!!!!!!!
Tommorow there's supposed to be an ICE Storm…..Happy Happy Joy Joy
Anger is NOT Conducive to Animating. At Least I'll get to see some new F/X
on Tripe-elon 5 tonight. I hope they taught the bloke playing Babylon 5's
Commander how to Act since the Pilot. Other Wise They might as well
replace him with one of the Marionette's from Stingray.
Hmmm Better Yet, replace him with "Baby Oopsy" from Full Moons Demonic
Toys and Dollman VS Demonic Toys films.
>At Least I'll get to see some new F/X on Tripe-elon 5 tonight.
I just watched it and thought it was pretty good. They did replace my
oriental babe but I'll live. :^)
The Commander was pretty stiff in the Pilot but did seem a little more
loose this time, hopefully he will get as loose as Garibaldi. :^)
<<< Tony D. Tracer >>>
(Any render time >0 needs acceleration.)
Yes The Commander did improve ALOT since the Pilot. Love Them Centauri's
Haircuts don't you? The Oriental Babe was pretty pathetic in the Pilot
too. Tho the Replacement "Miss Atitude" is cosi cosi. The new Telepath is
cute but I liked the original one more. Garabaldi and Londo are my 2
FAVE's, even in the Pilot they were good. I have hope that Babylon 5 will
continue to improve.
>The Oriental Babe was pretty pathetic in the Pilot too.
I wan't talking about her acting. I find oriental women acttractive.
>Garabaldi and Londo are my 2 FAVE's, even in the Pilot they were good.
Yes, they are VERY likeable since they play their parts well.

Hey!
I lived in the Dominican Republic for a couple of years!
What a beatiful place. What city are you from?
1985-1986
Matt
>I lived in the Dominican Republic for a couple of years!
Wow! I left when I was a baby and then returned for a short time when I
was a child (5 yrs old) and everytime I make plans to go back and visit
some BIG problem ruins it for me. Maybe someday I'll get to go back.
I was born in Santo Domingo and then lived nearby in Los Minas my father
is from the area and my mother from from the Northen area, Santiago. So if
and when I go I'll be going ALL over the country.

of no particualr importance. Just picked up my Girlfriends Granmother
from the airport last night. She returned to NY after 2 months in
Santo Domingo.
>She returned to NY after 2 months in Santo Domingo.
Why would she `go back' to NY in the winter time? :^) Especially from a
warm country.

I dunno, I guess she missed her husband. My Girlfriend just told me her
MOM is now going for a week. She's Leaving Saturday.
