Concerning the bitmap textures available on the CD-ROM: Do all the textures tile seemlessly? I tried scanning some wood and brick samples of my own and it was difficult to cause them to align perfectly (match up horizontally and vertically when tiled). I'm gearing up to purchase a drive as I see 3DSv2, ACADv12, and CorelDraw v3 all come with CDs now … Thanks 😕 Markk

Mark, Most of the texture map packages tile with no seems. ImageCELS are one that comes to mind. I would suggest holding off buying one of these until you get a CD-ROM drive and get to check out what 3DSR2 comes with. You may find enough to satisfy you. Jay

Gary could answer this in more detail, so you might post your question again when he gets back in a week. I believe that all of the PATxxx.tga files in the PATTERNS directory are tileable. Most of the other maps, such as the woods and marbles, are not tileable. They're designed as high-resolution bitmaps so you can use them as a single map without tiling. There are some other tileable maps beside the PAT maps, but I'm not sure where they are. – Jack

Mark, I believe only the patterns and tiles on the cd-rom and diskettes of 3ds2.0 are seamlessly tileable. Get a cd-rom drive! I did for 3ds2.0 because the included cd-rom is a treasure trove and I have used stuff from it in every commercial project. I also have corel-draw 3.0 which includes another treasure trove of clip-art and type 1 fonts (which can be used in 3ds2.0). This seems to be a trend now. I can also highly recommend the imagetects cd-rom – the 3ds2.0 cd-rom complements it, rather than replacing it. Martin
