#Imagine fonts and 't'

Hello Mike,
I was recently "commisioned" to do a little graphics but to my despair,
every font I used (like _LOTS_ of fonts!) could not extrude the letter t. It
gave me a faceit error or something and then said I don't have enough RAM? I
need more than 16megs to exrude the letter 't' on a PC?

I had a problem with that once, I couldn't get the letter 'f' to extrude. Did
you try to use the letter by itself? If that doesn't work, delete some points
from the letter before extruding. Sometimes, the conversion process adds points
that are mis-aligned which cause problems during extrusion. I had an 'e' once
that had lines connected in some very weird ways.
I don't have the software open in front of me, or I could tell you exactly how
to do this. If my explanation makes no sense respond to that effect and I'll
send you detailed instructions.

I'm not extruding the 't' in the detail editor, its in the spline editor that
won't add any points! Since my last message, I also encountered problems with
many other .pfb fonts and different letters.
It said something like not enough RAM as well as other errors. So, I did try
isolating and adding points to the 't' but alas, the same error message
appeared in the upper left hand corner of my screen…
BTW, I have also tried to get the GROW effect to work. I cannot do it and have
no clue why it doesn't work. I know that others have had this problem…

Sorry, I wasn't clear in my previous message, when you add points in the Spline
editor, there is also the option to extrude, that's what I was referring to.
A way around your problem is to check for overlapping splines using Pick Knots
*after* loading the font. So, load some text, pick one of the letters that is a
problem, then go to Pick Knots. Now all the spline points will be available for
editing. In some of the Corel fonts I have found that there are overlapping
splines and this causes Imagine problems when adding points/faces. This is easy
to check, just use Pick Next while in Pick Knots mode. Imagine will highlight
the each spline and you'll soon see if there are any problems.
With postscript fonts, it helps to have had experience with postscript error
messages.

Thanks. It has seemed to work, know that I have done this, however my fonts
aren't the same…Oh, well!

Yeah, once you start editing the points of the typeface, some of the
identifying curves are lost. You could always try adding knots to the letter
once it's cleaned up….

Geez you got me., I guess if I had that problem I would just make the
T. You might also try using a less res picture if you are using the Import
Image command, if not and are using PS fonts, I will send you a good t.

I have had that problem with many of my fonts. It seems to only occur with
lowercase letters and not uppercase. I left a detailed message about it a
couple of weeks ago for you but received no reply.

Jim,
I am sorry, I did not get that message, I will check into the problem,
I used a bunch of Ts last night and they all seemed to work fine. Whatever we
will look into it an try and find the problem.
