What I was actually referring to in my post was making "official"
conferences part of the basic services…not *all* the conferences. Maybe
some sort of deal where they'd include one SYSOP sponsored conf a month,
maybe one every 6-8 weeks.
I've attended the informal C class conferences here in the past, and with
the open-ended structure of those, etc… have no problem dialing in at 300
baud.
My argument for including the "official" conferences (that would be those,
like the upcoming Steve Worley conf, or perhaps those sponsored by vendors
in the various fora, which in some ways serve to promote those companies'
products.
Regarding the allocation of nodes, etc…you could certainly time the
conferences to be in low-use ends of the spectrum.
Regarding basic services, i don't have *any* use to browse around there at
all now. It's just not cost-effective. BUT, if the carrot were that I'd
get an amiga conf every now and then as part of the deal, i'd sign up
immediately!
..again, just a thought!

Tim,
Not knowing CIS's accounting procedures, I would guess that what you
are proposing would be a MAJOR problem for them in tracking 'timed' versus
flat-fee usage. Consequently, it'd never sell.

GO FEEDBACK and/or HELPFORUM and tell them your thoughts. The sysops have
absolutely no impact on pricing policies.

I already penned a comment to the FEEDBACK folks; I can HEAR you, and aside
from the possibility that you may be in touch with others in the CIS
hierarchy was not under any illusion that the sysops had anything to do
with pricing policies.

I'm very much in touch with the hierarchy — and give them the same type of
feedback you gave!
