Toaster file mysteries

Erik-Thank you for your help. Sure enough, the brushes are stored in
TOASTER/3D/IMAGES. I never thought to look in 3D. I thought 3D was
reserved for 3D stuff ! As for the FRAMESTORE/PAGES files–I am still
unclear as to exactly what they are. Many CG pages are not represented
there and the numbers don't make sense to me. I solved the CG over
Framestore problem with the help of Frank Vanella. I couldn't follow the
directions in the manual–he translated it all into English. How did you
guys learn all this stuff ? Thanks again

Van,
The ONLY CG pages that show up oin the pages directory are buffered pages
(done by alt-F9). The reason you buffer a page (either a key or framestore
page) is so they load from switcher rapidly–3 secs VS 10-12. If you don't
buffer a page, they won't show up in pages, they are just recreated each
time you load them from the switcher.
Hope this helps.

Glad to help. FRAMESTORE/PAGES holds 'Framestore' pages for the CG slice of
the Toaster. You will only find CG pages that have been saved using Alt-F9
'Save Rendered Page'. They show up in the CG page list (on the Toaster
control panel) with a little lightning bolt before the name.
I will agree that the manual is pretty sparse when it comes to the CG.
(Especially since the interface is SO different from the rest of the
software.
The only reason I knew the answer is that I had just had to create some CG
pages for a client. Figuring out how to transfer those files seamlessly
over to his system took some sleuthing on my part. I had to make sure that
all needed components were transferred to his system (ie: Project, CG Book,
CG Pages, and some framestores).
As it was, since my'Work' partition is called 'WORK', and my clients' was
labeled, I had to manually rename 'WORK' to 'DH0' to make the CG pages show
up on his system – EVEN after transferring the Project info!
Oh well, glad to have been of help.

Erik,
You can go in and change the name of the CG saved buffered pages so they
reflect any new drive or project that you need them to be accessed from.
Often, I will save them with Alt-F9 and then go and move them into the
framestore directory with a new name. This way there is no chance of
deleting them accidentally.
