I am especially curious about picture quality as it relates to internal circuits vs. the '22 JVC series. Back in April '92 at the NAB a JVC salesperson told me that the circuits in the 378 were the same as the 622/822… As I closely examine JVC literature, there are 9 items (features) which describe '22 circuits and also 9 features for the 378. 622/822 Circuit Features listed: Digital Luminance Noise reducer Digital Y/C separator Chroma Enhancer Luminance Signal Enhancer SC Leak Enhancer High Precision Chroma Noise Reducer Flying Pre-Record Amplifier Digital DOC ECL Demodulator Then for the 378: Digital Comb Filter for Y/C separation Digital Chroma Enhancer Twin Path Digital Enhancer Dynamic Double Limiter Bi-Directional Aperture Control Video Switching Noise Compensator Color Stabilizer Color Response Improvement circuit (CRI) So, the question is, just how different are the '22 series decks (not counting external ports, TC, etc) from the 378 for picture quality? Both are advertised with Faroujda circuitry, was the JVC salesman at NAB blowing smoke, or are the '22 and 378 essentially the same from a signal processing standpoint?
