Hello people.
I'm wondering if anyone knows or has heard about a possible addition to
the Amiga 3000 that would allow me to run programs needing a 68000 CPU or
16 bit memory?
Keeping an A-500 around for just that purpose is too cluttering and I
would have to buy or re-attach peripherals every time I wanted to change
back.
Would appreciate any suggestions or news. Thanks.

To be honest…I'd dump those programs…they're not properly
written if they can't handle anything but 16 bit wide memory and a 68000
processor.

Dump Falcon?? Awk! NEVER! ….At least unless they give me credit for the
old original program.
Also, out here the cheapest programs cost me $60 + a shot. Too much to

Hello Henry,
There is no such peripheral for the A3000 to run programs needing a 68000
CPU that I'm aware of. As far as the memory, you can run NoFastMem
whenever you need to run a program that's confused by the memory.
The A500 is probably the easiest solution. You could try something like
PARNET to avoid having to buy many extra peripherals, although a 1 meg A500
itself would probably solve your problem of running software that's
incompatible with the A3000.

Hello Art. Thanks for the info. Just to let you know…I already have my
origional Amiga, an A500 V1.2 . I just don't want to be stuck with it if
there is another solution.
As for running noFastMem, I don't believe that would help as it would cut
down the "amount" of memory and not the kind (32 bit).

As I understand it, running NoFastMem removes all the remaining FAST memory
from the available free memory list so that only CHIP memory is left to be
allocated to other programs. It doesn't care whether the FAST memory is 16
or 32 bit memory, just that it's FAST memory as opposed to CHIP memory.

There is a program called degrader that will supposedly make your
accelerated Amiga (3000, etc) act like a stock 2000, 500, etc….
