#PDraw 3.0 PS Output Spec

Here's something to look at in PDraw 3.0. I have found that I have to
adjust the X position in the Postscript Output Specs of ALTER page for
proper output position with my laser printer. I set X pos. to -1.5 picas, Y
pos to 1.0 picas, press [return] and X pos. increments to -1.4. Click on OK
and then again on the OK or the alter current page requester. IF I go back
and check those Postscript Output Specs, I find that the X position has
been incremented down again by .1 of a pica. So now it's at -1.3, if I
repeat this over and over, it continues to increment down, and then at -1.1
after two recalls of the requester it changes to -0.11 and then to 0.11!
I've never noticed this before, but is it possible that this is why the
postscript output is always off? I've always had to adjust the offset, and
it always seems to alter itself a tiny bit.
Please check this out and bring it to the attention of the development
team.

It appears that the dropping back of the X&Y postscript positions only
effects PICA and Points. The value will not change if you have inches or CM
as your measurement system.
This would effect output to a desktop printer, but I am surprised you must
use 1pica5 as an offset…that is a larger amount. The only time I specify
an offset is if I use the manual feed on my printer and not the paper bin.
The NEC-890 paper path has a difference of about 2-3 points difference
between the two feed methods.
It should not be so apparent when going to lino…normally such a large
area is provided for the OutPut page size and the reg/crop marks are
relative to the page regardless of offset.
It has now been reported.

Thanks for the reply, I'll try the other measurement system, but picas is
usually the choice for me. I don't recall trying the inch measurement.
Since I'm not using a direct PS laser printer at this time, I print to
disk and then use POST to interpret the page. I've always noticed a
displacement of the left margin. When using the Page Genie to make laser
disk labels the top was off by 1 pica and the left margin by 1pica5. I
measured the sheet label and a test page with the box outline turned on
rule set to hairline. Without the adjustment, I couldn't get correct
positioning of the output to the cut labels.
