Don, I happen to think I'm *quite* reasonable, and even open-minded. I don't know where you got the idea that I suggested printing user documentation on newsprint. Perhaps you should re-read the thread. That suggestion isn't there, and i personally think it's UN-reasonable, for the same reasons you suggested. My only point was that newsprint is much more degradable than glossyprint paper. I had mentioned it because someone ignorantly pointed out that paper isn't a problem in the landfills because newsprint biodegrades so rapidly. THey missed the point, and also haven't a clue as to what actually happens in a landfill anyway. I worry about a general disregard for environmental issues in general, and in particular the grouping and dismissal of any mentioned concerns regarding the environment as "whacko" or extremist. I'm somewhat pleased to hear that you've even paid attention to the magnitude of grass clipping additions to already overburdened landfills. It's not news to me…i make it a point to keep knowledgeable on various environmental issues… Anyone who thinks that landfills "aren't a problem" already is exceptionally ignorant about our waste problems (both globally and nationally). And i'm not implying anything personally, believe me! Why is it that whenever someone disagrees with someone who's concerned about the environment, they always seem to clutter the discussion with blatantly extreme counterexamples? ..never buy anything, go live in the mountains, grow your own food… Come on, there's no need for such implicit sarcasm, I understand your point. Did it ever occur to you that just because predictions don't come true that it doesn't disqualify the validity of the isssue? perhaps just the magnitude…just maybe those experts (and why are they "so-called" experts by your words anyway? How qualified are you on this subject?) just need a more sophisticated modelling approach in order to better understand the impact of the various occurences. [ MORE ]
