#Text Morph problems
4 messages in this thread
I'm trying to Morph boxes into text. I import the Text shapes into the
Shaper, copy the shape, and move the points to new locations When I try the
Morph in the Keyframer, it works but it seems to render extra faces. Is
there any way I can fix this. Thanx…

When you morph text, you've got to be incredibly careful about how the
end-caps get moved during the morph operation. The basic limitation of our
morph routine is that end-caps do not get re-capped dynamically during the
morph… the points on the caps just get displaced to the new morph
positions. When the caps are severely displaced, it can cause smoothing
irregularities and other face artifacts. Sometimes you can cover these
artifacts up by texture-mapping the surface. Better still, try being a
little creative and morph the text to an intermediate object and then scale
the intermediate object down as you scale up the object that it's supposed
to morph into.

To add to what Gary said, you can also cheat by using Video Post to
crossdissolve to different (perfectly modeled) objects at the end of the
morph.

if your going from the box to the letter you may have problems, try going
from the letter to the box and then render backwards.
