After getting a phone call from Doug Walker (from SAS), I have been
concerned that my statements here have been viewed as an attack on SAS.
Given that I do count Doug as one of my friends, and that I hope to
continue to appear impartial as a moderator, I will be taking extra efforts
to ensure that my comments are not misconstrued. It has been my belief
that I have provided fair answers to questions here (and would hope that
people will be quick to point out when I fail to do so) and to further this
end, I will attempt to restrict the scope of my replies concerning SAS
(without impeeding programmers quest to control this beast we call the
Amiga).
It has been my belief that cooperation is the best medium to bring out the
best.

I believe I've seen most of the thread to which you refer; I commiserate
with your dismay at your meaning being misunderstood. All I can say is that
it's so common in electronic communications that any and all participants
should practice, over and over, saying "Oh- sorry for getting on your
case!" and "Oh- sorry you took it that way!"
Most of the conversational cues which prevent (or alleviate)
misunderstandings are not present in this medium, unfortunately. Good luck
in your SYSOPing.

Yes, I agree – there is that tendancy with electronic media.
I feel a lot better about it after having spoken to John
on the phone and socially Saturday night.
I apologize to the group here for inadvertantly raising the
tension level in the conference (and on my first day, too!)
I feel that in an electronic forum like this one it's important
to keep the lines of communication open if it is to do
any good to anybody…

Hi Doug,
Yes it happens (tension levels). Unfortunately SAS seems to have
withdrawn and here you are holding the bag, so to speak. Since the
'absorption' of Lattice, SAS seems to have made very little progress in
reaching the common user. There is no 800 number (not uncommon recently)
but the thing that amazes me is that there is no BBS. SAS seems to be going
out of it's way to be hard to reach. Right after the Lattice end of things
dried up, there were promises of a BBS from SAS….if there is one, I
haven't heard about it. While I'm sure commercial and heavy 'wanna-be's'
will get the maximum use from 6.0, I'd rather dial long distance and see a
BBS where the pros/cons are debated with SAS people vs the public.
