Shawn, I agree wholeheartedly with you about $700 price tag for software being very steep for people who have spent $2200 and up for the Toaster system. Then again, I like to bitch…but feel this IS a legitimate bitch. The Toaster is beautiful, and I appreciate NewTek's ingenuity in coming up with it. If not for the Toaster, the Amiga may have gone belly up two years ago. I know a LOT of talent, time and technology went into creating Toaster 3.0 and the new 4000. Am not begrudging NewTek any profit…want them to do well along with brain-dead marketing bozos at Commodore. (Although Commodore's stu- pidity is BEGGING for a chapter eleven!!!!) Maybe times being what they are, seven hundred dollars IS a fair price… but can't shake the notion that for us registered users, we should have been cut a better deal. Anyway, I am enjoying the 3.0 software so much, that I don't feel like bitching too much right now. Just had to let you know, I had the exact same thought you did. Concentrate on the scads of beautiful ToasterFonts, new Lightwave…and put baaahing sheep, seven hundred dollar software, and idiotic Commodore marketers out of your mind, and you will enjoy yourself. Pray for a nice inexpensive upgrade (probably next year!)…Commodore may be beyond prayers….what THEY need is a miracle!!!! Tom.

Indeed Tom, I do not know a more dedicated lot that Amigians (or at least outside of relgion <g>). I do not understand why C= makes some of the poor judgement calls that they do. Especially firing whole development teams, that won't get you loyalty or continuity. The 4000 is a great machine BUT lacking some features I would expect of a high end machine of its ilk. Such as a true 24 Bit graphics display as standard, 68040/33 with space for up to 64MB of RAM, and whats the deal with the IDE card (eh gads!). Oh well I am certain we could devote a forum just to wants on the 4000 or the 6000 (Hypercube JR). As for Newtek (they ain't poor) and I am certain that their mark up is enormous. But I have to agree with you I would not have a business with out them. I just wish they would not be so "Well you can't get it anywhere else so suck it up and eat the cost!"
