Just got my newsletter yesterday. I had a few questions about the DM and
Imagin 3.0. What kind of port will the dream machine need for its I/O? I have
a 1200 and want to be sure I configure it to work with the DM when it becomes
available. Will 3.0 be set to use it?
On 3.0, what type of sound files will it be able to use. Also, is there a
layer feature, and if so how is it set up?

Oops — I think I've been mistaken for an Impulse rep. I'm just a user,
Dale, and unfortunately I have no idea what ports the Dream Machine has. I urge
you to consider DPS' Personal Animation Recorder; it's out now, and it works
wonders. A friend of mine has one, and he just loves it.

Could you pass along any more info on what DPS' Personal Animation Recorder is?
We're using a PC and examining our output options. The cheapest seems to be
the Fast Video Machine (a toaster for the PC with TBCs and single frame
controller built in) and a single framing SVHS deck. Total cost about $6-$7k.

Check out August/September Video Toaster User for a review of the Personal
Animation Recorder. Basically, uses Jpeg to compress frames to dedicated hard
drive, and then plays resulting animation back through built NTSC or component
video out to video deck.
Seems they also have a version for PC's with ISA bus due this fall, depending
on when the software is finished. I just spoke to DPS on Friday.
