Does anyone know of a AAPLAY for OS/2? I'm not talking about running AAPLAY in a DOS window or fullscreen under OS/2, but an actual OS/2 version of AAPLAY. For a demo, we'd had wanted to make calls to AAPLAY, but because it currently runs only in a DOS window/fullscreen, we get some behavior from the application that we'd rather avoid. An OS/2 version of AAPLAY would solve our problem. If you know of such an application, please let us know. The demo is to be given in 2 days in Brazil (lots of notice, I know)… Thanks, Michael

Michael, I don't believe I've seen an OS/2 version of AAPLAY, but there is a Windows version that has been released recently. If your running seemless windows in OS/2 this should be exactly what your looking for. I believe there is a demo version available somewhere on the Asoft forum. Sorry I don't know the name or location of the file. Maybe someone else knows of its location. Ed P.

Micheal, I do not think a OS/2 FLI player would be of great value. If you ran the a player on the OS/2 desktop the full range of 256 colors are NOT available. OS/2 controls the desktop color pallete and therefore reduces the number of colors available to the FLI. When graphics boards that support greater then 256 color have OS/2 drivers then playing a FLI on the OS/2 desktop will be viable ( but still may be to slow).

Doug, Windows does exactly the same thing – all 256 colors are not available either. It grabs (I believe) 20 colors to use for icons, borders etc. I'm pretty sure OS/2 doesn't take any more colors than Windows does. So an OS/2 version would work perfect. Dave Mennenoh

Found an OS/2 PM based .FLIc player on America Online. In the OS/2 library, there is a file called PMFLI100.ZIP. I downloaded it and it worked great! It wasn't apparent what extras you got if you registered (EG: it didn't say if it supported .GIFs or if it had a SCRipting language). I'm waiting for the authors permission to upload it here (unless someone beats me to it). Michael
