LVR-5000A

Todd, sorry for not replying to your fax sooner. I'm sure you don't want me
calling collect from Scotland. From my brief trial the LVR seems to be the
ideal recording unit for animation and I envy you having one looking for a
purpose. If you could convert it PAL I'd take it off your hands. My local
supplier quoted me $450/day hire rate!
To control the LVR unit I am using a V-LAN PC card called the Animax from
Videomedia. The V-LAN system can be expanded to control a number of video units
and is more suitable if you intend to get into video editing. I believe you can
control the LVR directly from the serial port by using software drivers
supplied by Greg Pyros (on this forum). If all you want is 3D Studio capability
then this would work for you.
I don't know what video card you are using. I have a Targa+ which looks good
but if you want to get the best quality then the ATVista would be better
matched to the LVR as this is a higher resolution.

Martin,
Thanks for the response…I wouldnt mind if you called from Scottland although
we probably shouldnt talk daily.<grin> I did talk to Greg at Siggraph and found
out about the ADI drivers for the LVR…thanks for helping though. I do have a
targa 32 board and an ATI Ultra Pro…I think I'll probably get the new Matrox
card though…I'll let ya know if it works out. We probably could get this LVR
to PAL if things like this are done ( I'm not sure), if so I'll let ya know. I
might sell this LVR soon as I dont really have enough time anymore to use it.
If it is somethin your really interested in let me know 'cause I'll probably
sell it a a very favorable price…nice to have met you!
Todd
