#VR helmet

A friend of mine who lives in Africa has asked me to try to find out wether
"Virtual Reality" helmets are available that work on the German PAL TV system
He has Multiple Sclerosis and has an idea that might help him deal with the
disabilities that MS causes. Before being stricken with the disease, he was
very involved in computers.
Anyone able to help ??
Remember that the US TV system won't work there, it must be the PAL system as
used in Germany, England and most of Europe (except France).
Try contacting Scott Redmond at RPI Advanced Research in San Francisco. Voice
(415) 495-4460, Fax/voicemail (415) 777-3326. I believe they are working on a
VR helmet which will accept direct RGB from a video card (most other helmets
require NTSC format). I believe this is still a work in progress, but I've
used RPI's NTSC visor, and it's extremely well engineered. There are a number
of other options available in RPI's HMD's that are designed for impaired users,
so you should have a meaningful dialog. The products are not inexpensive, but
they are very well made and highly functional. Good luck!

PS: If nothing else, there are a number of RGB-to-NTSC converters available
which will gwt a decent signal out of the computer & onto the HMD screens of
any number of HMD's…..
