Help, 3-D access

I connot seem to reach the 3-D Studio forum, #3 when I wish to look at
messages. I can save messages to it, but when I try to view any, it is not
there to select.. what is wrong? I fear that if you reply in this forum, I
will never get my answer simply because I don't seem to have access. What do I
need to do?

We'll try it anyway…….<g>. What you do depends a lot on just what comm
software you are using. For most ASCII (or command line) based software type
OPTIONS at the forum ! prompt and then select the active sections. Make sure
that all the sections you wish to read are set. Probably be wise to select all
the sections and also the "Add new sections" at the end too.
If however, you are using a HMI product like DOSCIM or WINCIM, you will have to
rejoin the forum, and depending on which version it is, we may have to delete
your membership to allow you to do this. If you're using CIM, I suggest that
you make sure that you are using the very latest version. You can download it
from the CIMSUPPORT forum. There will be a charge against your CIS account for
it, but they will also credit free access time equal to the charge. The net
effect is that you get it free, but they get paid now.
If none of these suggestions solve your problem, give us another shout.

I've been using a program (FREE) called OZCIS. It's pretty nice .. DOS based
.. mouse support and other nice features. Everting is off-line. Its in the
IBMCOMM forum. I've been pretty happy with it so far.

Hi Ang. I've thought about trying OzCIS (am using TAPCIS), but never gotten
around to it. TAPCIS is supposed to be coming out with a new interface (I
hope!) sometime soon.
I had replied to James, as did others, but then realized his problem was he
couldn't READ from section 3, so I emailed him some suggestions (including
abandoning PCPLUS as a CIS tool).

I do CIS from home on my wife's computer (386SX 1MB) .. so even Windows is out.
I'm going to try to scape-up some memory from the office and bump this up to at
least 4MB … then maybe try WinCIS.
Are people out there using it … like it?

If you meant WinCIM for Windows, yes- I'm using it and like it alot. But you
must enjoy using Windows at all to "really" enjoy it. If you like the style
Windows uses, you'l like WinCIM. I also have ProComm Plus for Windows and like
it alot, but would never go back to it for Compuserve.

I've been using WinCis for a few months now; 'really like it. My version
94b works so well I've been hesitant to upgrade to the current .94e. It's still
in beta on the WUGNET forum; you need WC094A thru E.ZIP (5 files) to get
everything. There's no manual, just a couple of text files and somewhat light
help in the program. It doesn't automatically follow threads yet, and you can't
define special folders to store received messages you want to save, (they just
go into each forum's saved messages file), but it's cut my CI$ bill by 1/2 –
2/3, and Larry Lee, (the author) is constantantly working to provide the
features people want, especially while it's still in beta. It takes a little
while to understand all the features, but I think it's worth it. I especially
like the way you can download complete catalogs of the library files, and keep
them on hand. Then, when you need certain files, just mark them like you would
a message and it will automatically retrieve them. Check it out, but be
prepared to spend a little time learning how to best use it. If you have any
more questions, let me know, and I'll answer as best I can.

Try GO NAVCIS and download either the windows or dos version of John Dvorak's
CIS program. I find it to be very easy to use and it's free. A Pro version is
also available or will be soon.

Got a dedicated OzCIS fan here. I have tried v2 but have had more difficulty
with it than expected. I am very happy with v1.2 and will undoubtedly stay
with it for now.
