OS/2 Help
2 messages in this thread
Hi there! I've been trying to get OS/2 (2.1) to work on my system and
am so far having very limited success. Bailey if you're listening
feel free to jump in. <g> 3DS loads _very slow_ and last night it
didn't want to load at all after a few tries. When it did start it
had only 2.9 Mb of Mem available to it. I have set the DPMI_MEM_
Limit to 64Mb but get no change in what's available to 3DS. I've got
a Diamond Speedstar 24 / 32Mb Ram / 486/66 / Compaq 6260 SCSI-II
controller which is actually an Adapted 1520 – which OS/2 sees as
such. But I also keep getting a sector error on the SCSI HD. It
worked fine with the DOS drivers – no problems at all. But OS/2 keeps
giving me secor errors and I can retry the command and it works.
Also, my windows apps don't seem to function. I can launch Word and
it doesn't seem to do anything – but then if I shut down OS/2 it says
word is running although I can't see it as an open app by doing a
CTRL-ESC. Any ideas anyone. Could someone give me all the DOS Session
settings for 3DS? Also, if you would be so kind as to leave any
replies to 71561,2343 – I'm calling from work right now and this is
my work account and don't use this one too much. If it's a pain just
reply to this address and I will still get it. Thanks much for any
help.

I suspect a lagre chunk of your problems stem from the Diamond
drivers, sorry if i can't help you on the 3ds problem, but windows
problems are more likely due to the drivers that diamond provided
with or for the speedstar, same problem with the stealth vram and a
change to a tseng board made the difference for me, look into it, or
look at the s3 drivers prodived by ibm, and check your windows
defauts for dpmi, the path where windows is and the path of your
program, also might try it in a full srceen mode… Good
luck-Andrew-Also is your windows dir name the defaut(windows) else os2
4 win may not see it… P.S.- are you running windows apps at
1024×768? That,if you are using diamond's drivers might be part of
the problem-Can't Help you on the rest, hope this helps some..Bye
