Since I've figured out how to use Backtalk by setting the modem up properly, I have another question about garbage ( or something) when connected to Compuserve. I did not experience this garbage with A-talk III. When the compuserve prompts appear, I am seeing characters such as 'Y', 'Y&' and a lot of 'Hj's prior to the compuserve prompts. If I enter the terminal configuration for compuserve and change something and make the change permenant, the problem goes away…until I log in again. Then the problem recurs based on the last permenant settings. When enter terminal configuration and change something again the problem goes away while logged in… and then I log in again at another time and the problem recurs. What causes this inconsitency and is there any "Backtalk" configuration change that needs to occur to prevent this type of garbage problem. Thanks, Stuart

Stuart, Set your CIS preferences for OTHER or TTY for terminal type. then make those settings permanent for all baud rates. The characters you are seeing are ANSI cursor positioning sequences and BackTalk doesn't emulate an ANSI terminal. Don
